Our team…it’s just me
My name is Chris, I was born in the mid 1970’s and I’m a qualified Counsellor and Therapist registered with the BACP. I’ve lived in northern England most of my life, and spent most of my working life in the corporate world before training as a Counsellor/Therapist.
Q. Why did I choose to become a Counsellor/Therapist?
A. I’ve always had an interest in people and how the mind works. One of my parents had severe mental health challenges following a family death so I experienced first-hand the importance of accessible mental health care. I also served as a financial trustee for Mind, the mental health charity, and recognised the need for more diversity in the therapist community. Ultimately and I felt I needed to contribute something more to the world and this is how I’m doing it.
Q. What am I like to work with?
A. If you decide to work with me, you’ll meet someone who has lots of life experience to draw on and a genuine desire to help you get to where you’d like to be. I have a warm character, can be humorous and sometimes I swear. I’ll encourage you to be yourself, and use our relationship as a way to grow at a pace that you’re comfortable with.
Q. Who do you work with?
A. Everyone is welcome to work with me; your sexuality, age, religion (or anything else) is fine with me.
Q. Anything else that’s useful?
A. Some information you may or may not find useful when considering working with me. I’m Male, straight, mixed heritage (British/Jamaican) and non-religious. I also have close family relationships with people who are Autistic, so have lived experience of diversity. I’m married with children and I enjoy reading and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
